Dear Teachers,

Saigon Therapy (saigontherapy.com), one of the most respected providers of mental health services in Ho Chi Minh City, is looking for creative, nurturing individuals who have experience teaching children with autism and learning disorders. Additional training provided. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with kids, is open to learning, has the ability to make learning fun, and a great team player!

Special Education Needs (SEN) Teacher
Responsibilities:

• Work one-on-one or in small groups educate students diagnosed with ASD
• Work with a psychotherapist to evaluate students’ skills and test their knowledge to organize lesson plans suitable for their abilities
• Develop Individual Education Programs (IEPs) to accommodate the needs of the students
• Assess students’ learning and report their progress weekly
• Work closely with a psychotherapist, teaching assistants, school counselors and parents to ensure IEP goals are met
• Look after students’ physical, social and emotional welfare
• Help older students learn life skills to adjust to their culture. 

Qualifications: 
• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Psychology, Special Education, Early Childhood, Education, Sociology and Social Work preferred
• Minimum 1 year experience working with preschoolers and kindergarteners on the spectrum of autism and/or 3 years working with kindergarten children. SEN Teachers preferred. 
• Fluency in English. Bilingual English-Vietnamese is an advantage
• 2 references from former employers/supervisors

Skills: 
• Good organizational skills to create a structured routine for students
• Ability to adjust lesson plans and teaching styles for every student 
• Creative and practical skills for class activities and stimulating learning environment
• Even-tempered patience whenever students struggle in class
• Experience in assessing students’ progress
• Good communication skills to collaborate with other school staff and attend review meetings

Working hours and environment
• You will work normal school hours (7.45am to 4.30/5.30pm), Monday to Friday during term time
• You will spend additional time planning and organizing lessons, keeping records and discussing students’ progress with therapists, and participating in school activities
• You will be based indoor, but will take the students out for school outings and social activities. 

Salary: Competitive, depending on your work experience

  • Preparing learning materials and class activities under the supervision of the teacher
  • Looking after students’ physical, social and emotional welfare
  • Keeping records and attending review meetings
  • Work closely with teachers, marital family therapist or psychologists to ensure IEP goals are met

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, Early Childhood, Education, Sociology, Social Work preferred
  • 1-3 year experience working with preschoolers
  • Fluency in English (bilingual English-Vietnamese preferred)
  • 2 references from former employers/supervisors
